GOAL:
Encourage a blend of retail and service business and to encourage investment in existing commercial property in the Main Street District.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Distribute updated market analysis
2. Develop business retention and recruitment plan
3. Promote Preferred Lender program and other incentive programs to prospective businesses
4. Assist Mayor with the downtown Redevelopment project (Riverwalk)
PROJECTS:
1. Update community profile– include product info, demographics, survey information and focus groups, commuting information, income data
2. Streamline building inventory - Update data-base and compile available information
3. Plan customer service workshops for the Watertown community
4. Use website to provide updated economic development information
5. Pursue additional training by state staff for the business community in the areas of entrepreneurship and business planning
6. Develop “Grass roots” team of 7-9 people to actively recruit business through “search” field trips
TASKS:
• Letters to Building owners to find out plans on buying/selling
• get list of owners from assessor's office
• call Craig in Ripon to see how he does this
• Contact real estate professionals to plan how we can share information about people wanting to move in and available property
• Conduct city visits to Lake Geneva & Stoughton
• Incorporate Riverwalk projects
