BOARD ELECTIONS

The Watertown Main Street Program is in the process of putting together the Board of Directors ballot for 2012. We are looking for individuals who are willing to invest about 6 hours a month in Downtown Revitalization work. This includes attendance at the monthly board meeting and serving on one of our committees. If you are interested in having your name placed on the ballot, please contact the Main Street office by November 1.

DOWNTOWN AWARDS NOMINATIONS SOUGHT

The Main Street program is asking for nominations in our community that will be sent on to the state competition in January. Last year Watertown received 4 state awards. We hope to build on our success. Some of the categories include:

Best Façade Renovation under $7,500
Best Façade Renovation over $7,500
Best Interior Renovation Project
Best Downtown Special Event
Best Promotional Item
Best Historic Restoration Project
Best Main Street Design Project
Best New Business
Best New Building Project
Best Public-Private Partnership in Downtown Revitalization

The Main Street Board wishes to thank all the people who helped us in our food booth during Riverfest. You are priceless.

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY ON NOVEMBER 26

Start your Holiday in Watertown this year!.The goal of the festival is to encourage citizens to start the 2011 Holiday season in Watertown. The committee is coordinating business tours, business open houses, and Christmas promotions to occur on the same weekend as the popular Holiday Parade of Lights. We are inviting everyone to participate. All you have to do is contact the Main Street office your business name and time of your promotion.
One of the activities is a Gingerbread House Contest. We have a tried and true recipe for the gingerbread dough and you may use a mold, kit or pattern for the house. Use your creativity to decorate the house like your business.

“WHAT’S UP DOWNTOWN’ LOOKING FOR PLACES TO TAPE

“What’s up Downtown” is entering its 3rd year and is looking for businesses that have not appeared on the show. You are also encouraged to call if you would like to appear on the show again. Contact the Main street office to arrange for a taping in your business.
